As members of the vibrant small businesses community of Capitol Hill, we
are networking with other "green" businesses to make our neighborhood
enjoyable, healthy and fun. Please visit the beautiful pocket community
garden,
The Thomas Street Gardens, a block away from us on Thomas.
Visit Bailey-Coy Bookstore on Broadway, an independent bookstore with a
wide variety of small press books (and birth books). Twice Told Tales is
the local venerable used bookstore with a large bookstore kitty
population.
We are
blessed with several choices for local and organically grown foods.
Madison Market is the local food co-op and has an extensive
deli and bulk foods. Rainbow Supplements on 15th has an herbal
"pharmacy" with a naturopath on duty. Follow signs to the
Capitol Hill Farmer's Market for local food and crafts. They
are open all year, unlike many area farmers’ markets.
For high quality used baby clothes and paraphernalia, visit
Bootyland (founded by a home
birth mom!).
The
Remedy Tea Bar on 15th aims to provide a fresh,
unique place for tea lovers to find the highest quality tea, while
inspiring non tea-drinkers to develop a love for the power of tea. We
recognize tea as a cool and healthy addition to the American lifestyle,
and hope that you will, too.
The
Capital Hill Library has had a facelift and is a great
resource for childbirth, breastfeeding and parenting books.
The independent video stores with the best selections is
Broadway Market Video and On 15th.
Our closest community clinic is
Country Doctor Community Clinic on 19th Ave. Carolyn Downs
Family Medical Center is on Yesler Way, and the
Seattle Indian Health Board is south of the International
District on 12th Ave. They all have services for low income families and
have on-site WIC offices.
There is a wealth of other treasures on Capitol Hill (like the
Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park and
Espresso Vivace). We invite you
to explore and discover some of your own!
